About

Poems, stories and notes to link books. Books for our current times. Books that connect histories with the ecological and environmental crisis, and that may illuminate what global health should mean. Books that critique our dominant culture and books that signal possible responses.

In whiskey distilleries, the whiskey is shaped by the character of the local land, the water and the interaction between itself and the cask. There is a similar distillation process in which my position, identity and everyday environment necessarily shape how I interpret and learn from books and different worlds. The distillery of poems, stories and notes is focussed around the themes of life, history and health. In another bodily distillery, the themes and learning will be different. If we share our results, however, there may be something to gain. This is where the analogy diverges, as the hope is to retrieve something better than a single malt by blending 🙂

So here I share in the hope to potentially blend with others. If you would like to share about a book you’ve read, please send the name of the book and your distilled stories/ learnings via (contact page) and I can add it to the reading list.
